The SANW manages South Africa’s two largest wine shows, the SA Young Wine Show for wines of the current vintage and the Veritas Awards for market-ready wines.

Bayly says his immediate challenge is to incorporate the SANW into the South African Wine and Brandy Company (SAWB) structure. The SANW functions independently with sponsorships from VinPro and Agri-Expo.

“The South African Wine and Brandy Company will be a good home, as it represents the entire wine industry. Its objectives of quality improvement and an effective marketing system are also fully aligned with those of the SANW,” says Bayly, who in 1984 became one of the first Cape Wine Masters.
