Winemakers’ make or break around the cornerJune 5, 2006
Gourmets in for a treatAugust 5, 2006
After a rigorous tasting by panels of local and international experts, the results will be announced in early October and this will be followed by public tastings of the top scoring wines in Cape Town and Johannesburg soon after.
Last year about 150 of the top achievers’ wines were available for tasting and although the number of double gold- and gold winners is still unknown, the organisers of the event expect it to be roughly the same. Qualité award-winning cheeses will also be available to add to the lure.
The Cape Town tasting will be held on Wednesday 18 October from 17:00 to 21:00 at the Southern Sun Hotel Cape Town, Strand Street and the Johannesburg tasting on Tuesday 24 October from 17:00 – 21:00 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Tickets are limited and cost R85 per person in Cape Town and R95 each for Johannesburg. The entrance fee includes a tasting glass, light snacks and pocket-size Veritas results booklet. Book in advance at Computicket outlets or online at www.computicket.com
The prestigious Veritas Awards is South Africa’s oldest, largest and most authorative wine competition. The distinctive Veritas symbol of excellence – displayed on award-winning wines – serves as a quality guideline for discerning wine lovers.
