In 2015 the Veritas Awards, South Africa’s oldest and most authoritative wine show, celebrates 25 years of excellence in wine. Organised by the South African National Wine Show Association (SANWSA), the competition has been setting the benchmark for local wines for a quarter of a century and the Veritas emblem is widely regarded as an unrivalled symbol of quality.

In the first of a series of events to celebrate the glittering milestone, an exclusive food and wine event will be presented on 24 February 2015 at Punchinello’s Restaurant in the Montecasino Tsogo Sun Hotel, Fourways, Johannesburg.

The dinner, titled “Chefs of Distinction” will be prepared by guest chef Dion Vengatass from the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town and has been designed to complement a selection of eight of the recent Veritas Gold and Double Gold winning wines. Dion is a member of the team of chefs who will represent South Africa at the Culinary Olympics in Germany in 2016. His sumptuous four course menu will include a starter of trendy baby beetroots in a special salad, an entreé of roast chicken ravioli, slow cooked beef sirloin main and seasonal fruit inspired dessert.

Veritas vice-chairperson and well-known Cape Wine Master, Bennie Howard, will discuss the wines and share interesting insights on the history and operations of Veritas. Tickets for this not to be missed event are R350 per person and bookings can be made at Montecasino Hotel on 011 367 4367.
